YCC was established in 1977 and started its operations in 1979, when it commissioned two of its long dry process kilns of 1500 tpd clinker each followed by the third long dry process Kiln with a capacity of 1000 tpd clinker in 1982, totaling the plant capacity of 1.2 million tons clinker per year. All the three kilns were supplied, installed and commissioned by KHD Humboldt Wedag Ag, Germany.


YCC expanded its capacity by another 2.1 Million Tons clinker in 1997 by commissioning the fourth and the largest kiln of its kind in the entire Middle East with a capacity of 7000 tons per day clinker. YCC has further expanded its clinkering capacity by another 0.5 Million tons during the year 2005 by upgrading this 7000 tpd kiln to 8500 tpd. The total capacity of YCC now stands at 4 Million Tons clinker per annum. This state-of-the-art short dry process kiln from KHD uses the latest technology in digital process control, efficient power and fuel consumption and minimum use of manpower in all stages of production.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing very fast economic growth under the wise and dynamic leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and particularly with the announcement of building new economic cities at different parts of the Kingdom. Therefore, the cement demand in the coming years is expected to increase due to continuous construction expansions in the Kingdom in the form of commercial and residential complexes and mix-use projects and government funded infrastructure.

Line 5 Expansion

In 2008, Yanbu Cement Company (YCC) pursued its fifth line expansion project with a capacity of 10,000 tpd clinker. This new line was commissioned in 2011 and started commercial production in Q2 2012. Today, the total installed capacity of all lines is 22,500 tpd per day serving Makka and Madina region as well as other western region areas in the Kingdom.


YCC is undertaking ambitious plans for Saudization of the technical work force at site and in order to achieve this it has established a training center equipped for receiving trainees from other Saudi as well as Arab cement companies offering courses under the auspices of the Arab Union from Cement &
Building Materials.The company plans for Saudization are reviewed by YCC's top management.
